Southfield, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech men's soccer team hosted the Huntington University Foresters Saturday night. The Blue Devils shutout the Foresters 3-0 with a dominate performance by the midfield. Lawrence Tech also recorded another shutout this season (third), as they shutdown the Foresters.
The senior goalkeeper,
Kieran Malachino, who has recorded his third shutout this season, had a clean sheet tonight.
The game started off a little slow as both teams were feeling each other out still. However, at the 16:33 minute mark of the first half, senior
Skander Larfaoui put the ball away for the Blue Devils. With both teams being quiet the majority of the first half, not really getting much scoring opportunities, the Foresters took a penalty at the 41:40 mark. Fifth year senior
Gonzalo Sanz took the penalty shot which he put away to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils headed into the second half with the two goal lead.
The second half had started to pick up with both team taking shots. The game had started to get a little feisty as there was several yellow cards thrown out tonight. Just with 15 seconds left in the game, fifth year senior
Ty Cerget put the ball in the back of the net to end the game 3-0 in favor of the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils will have a whole week off to gear up for their WHAC opener on Saturday September, 23rd against Indiana Tech at 3:00 PM. Lawrence Tech will host Indiana Tech at Blue Devils Stadium.
