Southfield, Mich.- The Lawrence Tech women's soccer team opened up WHAC play against Indiana Tech Saturday night. The Blue Devils recorded their fifth shutout in a row this season and beat the Warriors 3-0.
Sophomore keeper,
Gabi Nelson, also recorded her fifth shutout this season, going five games in a row without letting anything past her. .
From the opening whistle, Lawrence Tech displayed their dominance on the field, controlling possession and setting a brisk pace. The pressure they exerted on Indiana Tech's defense was relentless, and it didn't take long for the breakthrough to come. Lawrence Tech's precision passing and well-coordinated attacks led to their first goal, which sent the home crowd into celebration. Sophomore Bridget Finneran netted the first goal for the Blue Devils at the 29:52 mark of the first half.
The Blue Devils continued to apply offensive pressure in the second half, and their efforts were rewarded with two more goals. Both goals came from Junior Maliea May. As the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 3-0 in favor of the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The Blue Devils take their first win in conference play. They will host Rochester University on Wednesday at Blue Devils Stadium at 7:00 PM.
