SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO -- The Lawrence Technological University women's hockey team concluded their 4-game road trip in Ontario with a battle against Assiniboine Community College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assiniboine took advantage of a Sophia Buckberger hooking penalty to score a powerplay goal in with 7:03 to play in the first period.
- Towards the tail-end of the first period, Payton Malchuk would find the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission
- Shearer netted her second helper of the game, finding Brooklyn Franklin to extend the Cougar lead to three
- Assiniboine took a 4-0 lead when Billie Baranyk scored an unassisted goal.
- The Cougars tacked on two insurance goals in the third while holding the Blue Devils scoreless.
GAME NOTES:
- Freshman goalie Chloe Lemke recorded 44 saves (a new career-high) on 50 shots. Her previous high came on Dec. 3 at Michigan State (42 saves)
- The Blue Devils were shut out for the third time this season, all of which coming north of the border on this current road trip.Â
UP NEXT FOR THE BLUE DEVILS:
Lawrence Tech concludes this Canadian road trip 0-4, but they will have a chance to regroup at home when they face Adrian College to start a home-and-home series on the weekend of February 3rd. The battle against Adrian will start at 5 PM ET at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena on February 3, before facing them on the road on February 4 in Adrian at 4 PM ET.
