Goaltending Shines in Senior Night Matchup Against MSU

| By:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - On Friday, February 6, 2026, the Blue Devils hosted Michigan State University at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena for a hard-fought Senior Night matchup that ended in a 2-2 tie. The Blue Devils honored their senior class, which included Valeria Ortega and Katelyn Moreland, before a game defined by stellar goaltending and physical play. LTU struck early in the first period when Addy Langton scored her 7th goal of the season off an assist from Sophia Buckberger, but MSU responded shortly after to tie the game. Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick regained the lead for the Blue Devils in the second period with a goal assisted by Langton, but the Spartans managed to equalize midway through the third. Despite a relentless offensive push from Michigan State that resulted in 49 shots on goal, LTU's defense held firm through a scoreless overtime period to secure the draw.

The series shifted to East Lansing on Sunday, February 8, 2026, where LTU faced Michigan State at Munn Ice Arena and ultimately fell 4-1. The Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead just over five minutes into the first period when Sophia Buckberger netted her 25th goal of the season, assisted by Katelyn Moreland. However, the Spartans responded just minutes later to tie the score and then broke the game open in the third period with three unanswered goals. LTU struggled to generate consistent offensive pressure, managing 26 shots compared to MSU's 46, and were unable to recover after two quick Spartan goals late in the final frame, including an empty-netter in the closing seconds.

The Blue Devils, currently holding a record of 8-9-3, will head into their final regular season matchup against Michigan-Dearborn on the 13th and 14th of February.
