Men's Basketball Records Fall in 105-66 Demolition of Visiting GLCC Crusaders

The Blue Devils tied modern LTU records for season victories and winning streak

SOUTHFIELD--Host Lawrence Tech employed a balanced offense with five scorers in double-digits, controlled the glass and had its best shooting performance of the season in a 105-66 dismantling of Great Lakes Christian College in a non-conference men's basketball contest at the Don Ridler Field House on Friday night.

The Blue Devils are on a five-game winning streak and 13-7 overall, setting a modern-day program record in the former and tying another in the latter (LTU also had 13 wins in 2019 and last season). The Crusaders fall to 9-8 on the season.

Lawrence Tech Highlights
  • Senior Brandon Beavers had game highs of 20 points (8-10 FGs), nine rebounds and three steals.
  • Junior Cameron McEvans came off the bench to tie Beavers with 20 points on 8-for-11 field goal shooting.
  • Senior Nathaniel Ward had 10 points, five rebounds and a game-high four assists, with two steals.

  • Lawrence Tech also had a deeper bench outscoring GLCC 47-16.
  • The Crusaders actually enjoyed a four-point lead on Williams-Day's layup to make it 10-6 with 17 minutes and 15 seconds left in the first half.
  • After the teams traded points over the next three minutes, Beavers had a driving layup to put LTU in the lead for good at 14-13 with 14:25 to go.
  • That ignited a 16-6 scoring run to put the Blue Devils up 30-19 at the 9:08 mark. Dolny had six points to lead that outburst.
  • Lawrence Tech was never seriously threatened after that, eventually building a 53-27 lead at halftime.
  • In the second half, LTU wouldn't let GLCC get under 24 points of the lead.
  • Shamar Mathews' (8 points) layup with 6:19 remaining put LTU at the century mark, 100-56.
