Women's Hockey Ties with Davenport

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.-- The Lawrence Tech women's hockey team hosted D1 Davenport University Saturday evening, ending in a 3-3 tie, as nobody could score in overtime. The Blue Devils are now 3-2-2 overall, while the Panthers are 0-1 overall.    

Lawrence Tech junior goalie Rachel Hart (3-2-2), started for the Blue Devils, making 34 saves off of the Panthers 37 shots.    

Junior Jordyn Bebus opened up the scoring 6 minutes and 57 seconds into the first period with help from freshman Kalina Pernod and junior Katelyn Moreland. However, just 23 second later Davenport struck back trying the game up. Freshman Alexis Zielinski broke the tie at the 7:09 minute mark with the assist from Bebus. The Blue Devils headed into the second period up 2-1.   

Just 3 minutes and 4 seconds into the second period, Pernod extended the Blue Devils lead on the powerplay with the help from senior Athena Chapman and Moreland. The Panthers responded quicky cutng the Blue Devils lead to 1 just 1 minute and 47 seconds later. Lawrence Tech headed into the third period up 3-2. 

The Panthers tied the game right back up at the 14:37 minute mark of the third period. The rest of the period remained scoreless, resulting in overtime. With a scoreless overtime both teams took the tie. 

The Blue Devils will be back in action Sunday for a rematch against Davenport, this time at their home, for a 5pm puck drop.
