FARMINTON HILLS, Mich. - On November 23, 2024, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils encountered a formidable challenge in their latest Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association game, falling to the Central Michigan Chippewas with a staggering 9-1 score at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
The Blue Devils, cheered on by a hopeful home crowd, started the game with high energy. However, the Chippewas quickly took control, leading the game 4-1 by the end of the first period. Lawrence Tech's lone goal during this period came from freshman
Kalina Pernod, assisted by junior
Jordyn Bebus at 10:56, carving a brief moment of hope for the team.
As the game progressed, Central Michigan continued to dominate, adding two more goals by the close of the second period and bringing the score to 6-1. The third period saw no reprieve for the Blue Devils, as their opponents secured three additional goals. Despite a valiant effort from Lawrence Tech's goalie,
Rachel Hart, who faced a daunting 39 shots and made 30 saves, the team could not stem the tide of Central Michigan's aggressive play. Hart's performance, nonetheless, highlighted her resilience and skill amidst the overwhelming challenge.
The Blue Devils are now looking forward to a chance for redemption as they face Central Michigan once again on November 24 at the Martin Ice Arena in Mount Pleasant. The team stands at a current record of 9-5-3 and hopes to leverage this experience to make strategic adjustments.
