MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - In a thrilling CCWHA Game at Martin Ice Arena, Lawrence Tech University's Blue Devils suffered a close 6-5 overtime loss to the Central Michigan Chippewas on November 24, 2024. Despite leading 4-2 after the second period, the Blue Devils could not hold back the Chippewas' aggressive push, which eventually led them to secure the game in overtime.
The game started evenly matched with both teams locking the score at 1-1 by the end of the first period. Blue Devil's freshman
Addy Langton, assisted by graduate student
Valeria Ortega, scored at 16:39, setting an energetic pace. However, the Chippewas answered quickly, evening out the score soon after. The second period saw the Blue Devils showing a strong offensive performance, with goals from freshman
Kalina Pernod (assisted by junior
Jordyn Bebus and senior
Sophia Buckberger) and freshman
Alexis Zielinski (assisted by senior

The third period took a drastic turn as Central Michigan responded fiercely scoring four unanswered goals tying the game 5-5. Langton, assisted by junior Katlyn Moreland, added another point for the Blue Devils but couldn't prevent the game from going into overtime. In the overtime period, it took Central Michigan just over four minutes to clinch the victory with a final goal.
Sophomore
Chloe Lemke, Lawrence Tech's goalie, despite a valiant effort could not fend off Central Michigan's final push. That concludes the first half of the season for the Blue Devils as they look to rebound from this setback as they face Eastern Michigan on January 10, 2025, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The Blue Devils currently hold a record of 9 wins, 6 losses, and 3 ties for the season.
