FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - In a challenging encounter at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena on November 8, 2024, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils were overpowered by the defending national champions Sault Cougars, culminating in a decisive 7-1 defeat in a CCWHA game. 

The game started off evenly matched with both teams knotted at 1-1 after the first period. However, the landscape of the game shifted dramatically in the second period as Sault surged ahead to lead 4-1. By the final buzzer, the Cougars had extended their lead to solidify a 7-1 victory over the Blue Devils.

Senior Sophia Buckberger was a notable performer for Lawrence Tech, scoring their lone goal late in the second period, assisted by freshman Kalina Pernod and sophomore Sara Bensen. Despite the efforts, Blue Devils' goalie junior Rachel Hart faced an onslaught that her team could not counter efficiently.

The Blue Devils, whose season record now stands at 8 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties, look to regroup and face Sault College once again on November 9, 2024, at the same venue for a 5pm puck drop. The team hopes to adjust their strategies and demonstrate resilience in this quick turnaround face-off.
