Brandon Beavers tied his career high with 32 points to lead all scorers and also pulled down a game-best nine rebounds to power the Lawrence Tech men's basketball team to an 82-77 upset over No. 13-ranked Lourdes in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up at the Don Ridler Field House on Wednesday night.
The Blue Devils, who have won four in a row and are 9-1 in their last 10 outings, improve to 17-8 overall and 13-6 in the WHAC. The Gray Wolves slip to 19-4 on the season and 15-4 in the conference.
Jackie Harris topped Lourdes with 27 points on 11-for-20 field goal shooting and six rebounds, while Joey Holifield added 21 points and six rebounds, and Shaunn Monroe contributed 15 points and a game-high six assists.
Senior
Nathaniel Ward chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists for LTU, which shot 51.9 percent from the field to Lourdes' 47.7.
Beavers, the reigning NAIA National Player of the Week, banked in a key three-pointer from the top of the key to extend LTU's lead to 74-68 with 1 minute and 50 seconds left. Junior
Blake Lund (5 points) and Beavers then combined for 6-for-6 from the free throw line to seal the Blue Devils' second victory this season over the nationally-ranked Gray Wolves.
The teams traded points for much of the contest and neither had more than a three-possession lead until the midpoint of the second half when LTU went up 10, 56-46, after a trey by junior

Lawrence Tech hits the road for its next WHAC game on Saturday, when it travels to Grand Rapids to play Cornerstone at 5 p.m.
