Brandon Beavers recorded game highs of 24 points on sharp shooting, eight rebounds and two steals, and classmate
Nathaniel Ward dished a game-best six assists, to power the Lawrence Tech men's basketball team to a 92-76 victory over visiting Siena Heights in the Blue Devils' regular-season home finale at the Don Ridler Field House on Wednesday evening. Lawrence Tech improves to 18-9 overall and 14-7 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, while the Saints slip to 10-17 on the season and 7-14 in conference play.
Colin Nutter led SHU with 20 points on 8-for-11 from the floor and four assists, while Delano Williams chipped in 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Beavers made 10 of his 11 field goal attempts, including 4-for-5 from three-point land. Senior
Alejandro Gonzalez and junior
Cameron McEvans added 14 points apiece, Ward tallied 13, and junior
Blake Lund, 12.
Lawrence Tech shot 56.3 percent from the field (36-64) and outrebounded SHU 32-28. Ward had six rebounds and Lund, five, to help in that department.
Siena Heights briefly led 6-3 before LTU used a 9-0 run to go up 12-6 with 14 minutes and 41 seconds left in the first half. Beavers sparked the rally with seven points.
The Blue Devils never trailed after that, taking a 46-35 lead into the intermission. In the second half, it was all Blue Devils who built as much as a 23-point lead with 3:22 to go.
