SOUTHFIELD--Twenty-first ranked and first-place Indiana Tech defeated host Lawrence, 75-56, in Wolverine–Hoosier Athletic Conference women's basketball action at the Don Ridler Field House on Wednesday evening. The Blue Devils slip to 10-13 overall and 8-9 in the WHAC, while the Warriors cruise to 20-3 on the season and 17-0 in the conference.
Lawrence Tech Highlights
- Sophomore Kate Jacobs paced LTU with 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots.
- Freshman DeDe Smith added 11 points and six rebounds.
- Senior Jade Faris notched 15 points and six rebounds.
- Classmate Dominique Evans (6 points) led LTU with four assists.
Indiana Tech Highlights
- Taylor Covington recorded game highs of 26 points and seven assists, plus she had four rebounds.
- Genevieve Decker had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
- Erika Foy tossed in 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
- Bethany Worm added 10 points off the bench.
How it Happened
- Indiana Tech, which never trailed, jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter when LTU missed its first six field goals.
- But the Blue Devils eventually cut the deficit to 13-10 with 2 minutes and 11 seconds left on a Smith layin.
- The Warriors closed with an 8-2 run to lead 21-12 after 10 minutes.
- In the second quarter, the visitors scored 16 of the 25 points to take a 37-21 commanding advantage at the intermission.
- But LTU battled back again in the third quarter, outscoring Indiana Tech 23-15, and got within six, 50-44, on two free throws by Faris.
- The Warriors, however, pulled away in the fourth after LTU got to within 52-47 by using a 14-4 run over the next 5:39 to go up 66-51 at 3:18.
- Indiana Tech outshot LTU from the field, 49.2 percent (31-63) to 35.7 (20-56) and outscored the other bench, 16-5.

- Indiana Tech is ranked No. 21 with 196 points--rising two spots--in this week's NAIA Top-25 national poll.
- The Warriors lead the all-time series 20-5 including a sweep of the round-robin regular-season.
- Lawrence Tech has still allowed just one opponent--Indiana Tech--all season long to shoot 50.0 percent or better from the field back on Nov. 29.
- Jacobs' 19 points tonight are a career high.
