MISHAWAKA, Ind--The Lawrence Tech men's volleyball team opened the Bethel University (Ind.) Invitational on Friday with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 non-conference victory over Roosevelt in Gates Gymnasium. The Blue Devils will conclude Invitational play on Saturday against Rio Grande (10 a.m.) and Calumet College of St. Joseph (2 p.m.). More details to come later....

Lawrence Tech Highlights

• The Blue Devils up their overall record to 2-1.
• Freshman Mario Cid tied for the match lead with 10 kills on a .500 attack percentage and he had two total blocks.
• Classmate Nathaniel Brownlee recorded 15 assists and three service aces.
• Graduate student Matheus Andrade led the team with nine digs.
• Sophomore Akram Askoul had three solo blocks among four total.

Roosevelt Highlights

• The Lakers drop to 1-4 on the season.
• Andrea DiPaola also had 10 kills.
• Lachlan Diamond led all student-athletes with four blocks.

How It Happened

• The Blue Devils outhit the Lakers .217 to .025 and had more kills (35-26).

• This was the first meeting between the schools.
