Reed It and Weep! Blue Devils Drub Warriors

Trent Reed homers in both games, Brett Reed homers in game 1.

FORT WAYNE, IND. -- The Lawrence Technological University baseball team traveled to Indiana Tech to open conference play. The Blue Devils opened conference play with an offensive barrage, scoring double digits in both games.

Game 1:
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Blue Devils started their offense with back-to-back solo home runs from Trent Reed and Jake Llaneza
  • In the fifth, LTU tacked on 3 thanks to RBI hits from Jack Burch and Zach Meier
  • Indiana Tech scored 3 in the bottom half of the fifth on a bases-clearing double by Watkins
  • Llaneza caps off a 7-run seventh with a grand slam
NOTES
  • Dominic Puccetti started the game, he went 5.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hit and 3 walks, striking out 12. He was credited with the win.
  • Ryan Hulke pitched the final 2 innings to close out the game.
Game 2:
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The scoring started in the third inning with an RBI double by Llaneza
  • Burch's homer made it 3-0 early
  • In the fourth, Tasker Tripi scored on an error off the bat of Luke Weinberger
  • T. Reed hit a bomb to left for 3 RBI
  • A sac fly got the Warriors on the board
  • Stahl caused some ruckus against LTU in the seventh, with an RBI walk and a steal of home, creating runs for Indiana Tech
  • T. Reed's two-run triple put the game out of reach in the eighth
  • Llaneza drove in Reed to extend the lead to 11-5
NOTES
  • Ethan Hochendoner got the start, he went 5.0 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hit and 5 walks, striking out 5. He was credited with the win.
  • Matt Olson pitched a clean ninth to sweep the Warriors
