Defending National Champions Seeded First After Baker Play on Day 1

Host Lawrence Tech knocked down 5,003 pins this morning to lead the 12-team field

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich.--Lawrence Tech, the defending NAIA champion, concluded Thursday's Day 1 at the 2024 NAIA Men's Bowling National Championships here at 5 Star Lanes as the No. 1 seed in double-elimination bracket play, which gets underway in earnest on Friday. Updated Bracket

The Blue Devils knocked down 5,003 pins through 24 baker games to lead the 12-team field to determine the bracket. As a result, LTU was seeded first and one of the top four schools to receive a bye into the second round, which starts at 8 a.m. Friday.

In Round 2 action tomorrow morning, Lawrence Tech will meet No. 8 St. Francis (Ill.) which defeated No. 9 Concordia (Mich.), 4-1, to open the first round. 

The loser of that match will play No. 10 Hastings (Neb.) at 10 a.m. Friday in Round 3, while the LTU/USF winner skips to Round 4 at Noon Friday against the winner of No. 2 Marian (Ind.) versus No. 5 Pikeville (Ky.).
