GEORGETOWN, Ky.--Freshman
Mario Cid led 14th-ranked Lawrence Tech with 11 kills, six digs and two total blocks, but the Blue Devils couldn't solve a hot-hitting No. 9 Georgetown squad as the Tigers swept LTU 25-23, 25-11, 25-18 in a non-conference matchup of NAIA nationally-ranked teams at the Davis-Reid Alumni Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Lawrence Tech drops to 11-3 on the season while Georgetown improves to 13-3.

Matheus Andrade matched Cid for the team lead with six digs.
The host Tigers, who compete in the Mid-South Conference, were led by Ryan Gunn with 15 kills, Finn Heinemann with 33 assists and 3 service aces, CJ Bride with 17 digs--all match highs.
The Tigers outhit the Blue Devils .397 to .169 and also played solid defense keeping more attacks in play with a 31-16 digs advantage.
Lawrence Tech got off to a good start despite losing the opening set by two points, outhitting Georgetown .364 to .333 and almost doubling up the home team in kills (17-10).
But Georgetown took control of the second set when it attacked for a .667 percentage while holding LTU to just .000. The Tigers closed out the match with another defensive effort in the third, outhitting the Blue Devils .276-.077.
Lawrence Tech wraps up its spring break trip this weekend at the St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C., where the Blue Devils will play #RV Campbellsville -Ky. (Friday, 4:30 p.m.), the host Knights (Saturday, 10:30 a.m.) and Life University (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.).
