Nick Clauson Qualifies for USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships

The junior bowled a 1,366 over six games during ISC Sectionals qualifying

ALLEN PARK, Mich.--Lawrence Tech junior Nick Clauson of the nationally No. 4-ranked and defending NAIA men's national champion Blue Devils knocked down 1,366 pins over six games to place fifth out of 182 competitors in the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) sectional qualification round at Thunderbowl Lanes on Friday afternoon. The top-5 finishers advance to the ISC Finals. RESULTS

Classmates Connor Nowak and Costa Gastouniotis just missed the cut after coming in seventh and 10th with scores of 1,352 and 1,343, respectively.

Clauson was far from contention after bowling scores of 196 and 175 in the first two games, but rallied with four-straight 200-games of 279, 226, 224 and 266 to find himself representing LTU at the next level.

The ISCfirst contested in 2003, features the top 24 male and top 24 female collegiate bowlers in the country competing for national singles titles. Players advance to the ISC through sectional qualifying.
