ITC Bracket
JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky.-- The Lawrence Tech men's bowling team ended a successful 2023-24 season on a heartbreaking note with a 3-2 defeat to No. 2-ranked Webber International in the United State Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships on Saturday at Kingpin Lanes. The Blue Devils' national runner-up finish is their best showing ever at this event.
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils went 4-0 in double-elimination match play, including a sweep of No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday by scores of 4-1 and 4-3. On Thursday, LTU opened the Blue bracket with a 4-0 victory over No. 14 McKendree and wrapped up the afternoon by beating No. 17 Marian-Indiana 4-2.
Webber came out of the losers' Red bracket to even get to Championship Saturday, defeating No. 1 Wichita State twice, 4-3 and 4-0. Lawrence Tech didn't lose here until the final day of competition in a single-elimination.
The ITC, first contested in 1975, is the pinnacle event of the college bowling season. The ITC brings together the top 16 schools in both men's and women's divisions in the country to strive for national titles. For a school to participate in the ITC, it must compete in certified college tournaments and conferences throughout the season. By either winning a conference or being one of the top-ranked teams in the country, schools advance to post season sectional qualifying events. The top four men's teams and top four women's teams from each sectional tournament earned berths into the ITC.
