SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Blue Devils women's volleyball team was back in action Friday night in Defiance, Ohio, as they took on Defiance College in an evening match up. The Blue Devils were riding a three-game win streak, having just secured another road win two days prior by defeating Lourdes University on Wednesday night. Winning nine straight sets over the last three matches, the Blue Devils aimed to continue their dominance on the road and surpass the .500 mark for the season.
The Yellow jackets entered the match with a 6-6 record and hoped to surpass the .500 mark after losing three straight games. This match up was significant for both teams, as it could have implications for future WHAC tournament seeding.
Lawrence Tech, hoping to extend their success, started the match slowly, losing the opening set 14-25 and falling behind early. However, they quickly rebounded, winning a back-and-forth second set 25-23 to even the score going into the third set.
The Blue Devils dropped the third set 18-25, making the fourth set a must-win if they wanted to secure another match victory. With an impressive defensive effort in the fourth set, the Blue Devils won 25-15, leveling the match and heading into a sudden-death fifth set. Despite the Yellow jackets' best efforts, the Blue Devils completed the comeback, winning the fifth set 15-9 to capture their fourth consecutive match victory.
Lawrence Tech's victory was highlighted by a tremendous defensive performance from senior
Juliana Bollini, who led with 13 digs. Senior
Lindsay Hubler spearheaded the offense with 15 kills, helping propel the Blue Devils to another win.
