Women's Hockey Secure Victory Over Michigan State Spartans in Hockey Showdown

EAST LANSING, Mich. - In a thrilling league hockey match-up, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils emerged victorious against the Michigan State University Spartans with a final score of 3-1 on January 26, 2025. The game, held at the Spartans' home ice, showcased a solid performance from the team, particularly in the third period where they took control to seal the win.

The Blue Devils led 1-0 after both the first and second periods, thanks to an early goal by freshmen Kalina Pernod, assisted by freshmen Alexis Zielinski. Lawrence Tech's defense along with key saves from goalie sophomore Chloe Lemke held the Spartans at bay, maintaining the lead up to the final period. The third period proved decisive as senior Sophia Buckberger scored two unassisted goals, marking her second as the game-winning goal. 

The Blue Devils' strategic play was highlighted by the effective defending and strategic offense. Their performance not just on goal but throughout the rink helped secure this important league victory. The team's record now stands at 13 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties as they look forward to their next challenge against Adrian College on February 1, 2025, at Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
