Mens Hockey Finishes Regular Season Strong, Splits Weekend with #13 Indiana Tech

Game 1 (2/14) - In a closely contested WHAC Conference hockey game at the Redford Ice Arena on February 14, 2025, the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils were edged out by the Indiana Tech Warriors with a final score of 2-1.

The game kicked off with a strong defensive display from both teams, ending the first period without any goals. The scoreboard read Indiana Tech 0, Lawrence Tech 0 after the initial period. The deadlock was finally broken in the second period when Indiana Tech managed to slip one past Lawrence Tech's goalie, making it 1-0.

The third period saw a glimmer of hope for the Blue Devils when Kevin Bond scored a power-play goal, leveling the game briefly. However, the Warriors responded quickly  scoring the game-winning goal later in the period, securing the victory for Indiana Tech.

Lawrence Tech's Brett Tome was in net, showing commendable effort throughout the match. Justin Hubenschmidt contributed with the assist on the Blue Devils goal. Despite the disappointing loss, the Blue Devils demonstrated resilience and are poised to regroup and focus on their upcoming games.

Game 2 (2/15) - In an exhilarating WHAC Conference hockey game on February 15, 2025, the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils secured a narrow victory over the Indiana Tech Warriors with a final score of 3-2. The contest, held at SportONE/Parkview Ice House in Indiana, witnessed intense moments and a spectacular come-from-behind win for the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils kicked off the game strongly, taking a 1-0 lead by the end of the first period with Joshua Hixson finding the net. However, the second period saw a shift in momentum as the Warriors surged ahead to a 2-1 lead. Heading into the final period, tensions were high, but the Blue Devils showcased their resilience. Kevin Bond equalized the game before Adrian Gonzalez-Marin clinched the game-winning goal, assisted by Ian Kuntz, marking a key moment in the match.

Goalie Brett Tome was pivotal in securing the win, warding off numerous shots and maintaining composure under pressure. Assists from Jacques Lavrack, Thimo Ey, and Ian Kuntz were crucial in setting up opportunities and pivotal plays throughout the game. The team's strategy and execution on the ice were commendable as they improved their season record to 20-10-1.

The Blue Devils are looking to continue their winning streak as they look forward to the WHAC Championsip Tournament beginning on February 21, 2025. The team demonstrated not just skill but also heart and determination in coming from behind to secure the win.
