Blue Devils Make History with Gritty Run at NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Tournament

| By:

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – On Friday morning, the Lawrence Technological University (LTU) Blue Devils men's volleyball team found themselves part of a historic moment in the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Tournament, becoming involved in the first-ever three-way tie in pool play in tournament history.

The day began with a pivotal matchup between Georgetown College (Ky.) and Missouri Valley College. Missouri Valley emerged victorious, setting up a dramatic winner-take-all, single-set match to 25 points against the Blue Devils. The match would determine who would advance to the tournament's Final Four.

The contest was tightly contested from the outset, with both teams exchanging points in a back-and-forth battle. Missouri Valley eventually pulled ahead with the largest lead of the set at four points, putting LTU under significant pressure. Refusing to back down, the Blue Devils responded with a late surge, tying the set at 23–23 and positioning themselves for a potential comeback.

Despite their efforts, Lawrence Tech fell just short, losing the set 25–23. With that result, the team's remarkable 2024–25 season came to a close.

Though their run ended in heartbreak, the Blue Devils leave behind a season marked by exceptional achievements:

  • A program-record 27 wins in a single season

  • An undefeated 16–0 record in WHAC conference play

  • WHAC regular season champions

  • WHAC tournament champions for the second consecutive year

  • A return berth to the NAIA National Tournament

The 2024–25 Blue Devils cemented their place in program history through their resilience, teamwork, and competitive spirit. Their journey stands as a testament to the growth of LTU men's volleyball and the legacy they continue to build.
