Blue Devils Set Marks At The WHAC Indoor Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Lawrence Tech turned in its strongest conference performance in program history at the WHAC Indoor Championships, with the men's team finishing fifth and the women's team placing sixth while both squads more than doubled their team point totals from a year ago.

The Blue Devils capped the weekend with 24 personal records and five new school records, underscoring the program's rapid rise in one of the NAIA's most competitive conferences. New program marks came in the men's 4x800-meter relay, men's 400 meters, men's 1,000 meters, women's 60 meters, and the men's weight throw.

Relay depth was a key storyline as the men's 4x800 relay not only set a school record but also hit the NAIA "A" standard to qualify for the national championships. That performance highlighted a meet in which Lawrence Tech added three new national qualifiers overall. On the track, Martina punched her ticket in the 60-meter dash, and the Blue Devils also secured a national qualifier in the 60-meter hurdles.

The hurdle squad delivered one of the signature moments of the championships. In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Lawrence Tech swept the top two spots, with Latrice capturing the conference title and leading a 1–2 finish. According to the program, it marked the first hurdle sweep at the WHAC meet since 2021 and stood out as the highlight performance of the weekend for the Blue Devils.

Lawrence Tech's middle-distance group also played a central role in the record-breaking team scores. Alec Shaw earned WHAC Runner-Up honors in the mile, continuing his strong indoor campaign, while Griffin Armbrustmacher followed with a runner-up finish in the 1,000 meters as part of a race that also produced a new school record. Those podium finishes added valuable points to the team totals on the men's side.

In the sprints, the women's 60-meter dash produced both a school record and a new national qualifier, as Martina's performance pushed her into the NAIA Indoor Championships field. In the field events, the Blue Devils continued to expand their presence, highlighted by a program record in the men's weight throw, further diversifying Lawrence Tech's scoring profile across the meet.

With historic team scoring totals, multiple conference podium finishes, five new school records, and three additional national qualifiers, the Blue Devils leave the WHAC Indoor Championships positioned for continued success on the national stage. Lawrence Tech is scheduled to compete next at the NAIA Indoor Championships, March 5–7, where the new qualifiers and relays will look to build on the momentum established in Grand Rapids.
