WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - In game one of today's double header against Mayville State University, Lawrence Tech was held to three hits and shut out by Mayville State, falling 9-0 in a seven-inning in Winter Haven, Fla. They added to the pressure in the second with a sacrifice fly to right field, extending the advantage to 3-0 after two innings.

Defensively, Lawrence Tech could not quite escape a pair of run-scoring frames in the middle innings that broke the game open. Three more runs in the sixth, pushed the deficit to 9-0 and put the game out of reach.

The Blue Devils battled back from an early deficit to briefly pull even, but Mayville State used a three-run fourth inning and a two-run sixth to create separation and keep control the rest of the way. Both teams finished with seven hits, but Lawrence Tech stranded nine runners and could not overcome two defensive errors that helped extend Mayville State rallies.

Mayville State opened the scoring in the bottom of the third with a two-run triple to left, staking the hosts to a 2–0 lead. Lawrence Tech answered quickly in the top of the fourth, as Weinberger sparked the offense, ripping a two-run triple to right, tying the game at 2–2 and giving the Blue Devils a needed jolt in the middle innings.

Justin Baird came around to score on a Brady Lee RBI single to second base, trimming the deficit to 5–3 and keeping the Blue Devils within striking distance.
