Lawrence Tech finishes runner-up at WHAC Championship, closes season with another top-10 result

| By:
YORKTOWN, Ind. - Lawrence Tech placed second in a 12-team field at the WHAC Championship, capping the 2025-26 season with another strong finish at The Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, Indiana. The Blue Devils posted a three-round team score of 34-over-par, trailing only University of Northwestern Ohio, which won the event at 18-over.

David Krige led Lawrence Tech's lineup, finishing tied for fourth at 5-over-par across the multi-day tournament held April 26-28. Jasper Komkommer followed in seventh place at 7-over, giving the Blue Devils two golfers inside the top seven. David Mariel added another top-10 effort, tying for 10th at 10-over, as Lawrence Tech put three players near the top of the individual leaderboard.

The Blue Devils also received counting scores from Richard Bramley, who tied for 22nd at 17-over, and Martin Wing, who tied for 27th at 18-over. That depth helped Lawrence Tech stay in contention throughout the 54-hole championship and separate itself from the rest of the field, even as Northwestern Ohio pulled away for the title.

Lawrence Tech's final position reflected a balanced weekend from top to bottom. Krige's tie for fourth set the pace, Komkommer remained close behind, and Mariel's top-10 finish strengthened a team effort that consistently produced low scores relative to the field. In a championship setting, that kind of lineup stability allowed the Blue Devils to secure the runner-up spot against a deep conference field.

The result also added to a season-long body of work for Lawrence Tech. The Blue Devils closed the 2025-26 campaign with 13 top-10 finishes and two team titles, a mark of steady production across the schedule. Their second-place finish at the conference championship served as another indicator of that consistency, with multiple golfers finishing near the top and the team ending the year among the WHAC's best.
