BOYNE FALLS, Mich. - Playing at the beautiful Boyne Mountain Resort's Alpine Course, the Lawrence Technological University men's golf program put on a dominant display at the LTU Collegiate Kickoff. The Blue Devils secured the overall team title with an impressive three-round total score of 916, holding off stiff competition to claim the championship trophy. Lawrence Tech put on a remarkable comeback victory in the final round, shooting a 294 as a team to secure the 1st place finish.
The team's overall success was fueled by exceptional individual performances across the LTU roster. Leading the surge, Jasper Komkommer put together a remarkably steady tournament (75-74-73, +6) playing as an individual, surging late in the final round to capture individual medalist honors. Crucial contributions came from David Mariel, who delivered a tournament-best final-round 70 (-2) to climb twelve spots into a tie for 2nd place overall (+8). Meanwhile, Marcus Rothe vaulted eight spots on the last day with a closing 74 to anchor a top-five finish (T-5th, +10), rounding out a banner outing for the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils mens golf team will return to the course on the 18th of September, where they will compete in the Cleary University Fall Invitational at Chemung Hills Golf Course.
