Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Marian (IN) used a decisive third-quarter response and strong goalkeeping to turn back Lawrence Tech 11-7 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game. After Lawrence Tech trimmed a three-goal halftime deficit to one, Marian answered with back-to-back goals, the key sequence in a game that remained tight well into the second half.
The teams were even through much of the opening quarter. The scoring for Marian started at 13:29 of the first, but Lawrence Tech answered on goals by Mari Pellmann and Bella Louwerse. Another was added by a power-play goal for Marian, and the game moved to the second quarter tied 2-2.
Lawrence Tech made its push immediately after halftime. Pellmann scored at 11:53 of the third quarter, and Alyson Walendzak followed at 10:33 to cut the deficit to 7-6. That was as close as the Blue Devils would get. Those two possessions stopped Lawrence Tech's momentum and gave Marian the cushion it carried into the fourth quarter.
Lawrence Tech was led by Pellmann's three goals, while Walendzak scored twice, including a power-play goal in the fourth quarter. Jocelyn Vander Zwaag recorded three assists for the Blue Devils.

Lawrence Tech held a 14-6 edge in draw controls and finished with a 20-19 advantage in ground balls, while also producing 29 shots to Marian's 28. Marian was sharper in key moments, especially in transition and on clears, finishing 20 of 24 compared with 10 of 14 for Lawrence Tech. In goal, Madison Gugala finished with six saves for Lawrence Tech. The Blue Devils closed the gap in the third quarter and had chances to push further, but Marian's quick answer and late finish, capped by goal, secured the 11-7 result in front of an announced crowd of 169.
