VALPARAISO, Ind. — The Lawrence Technological University football team kicked off its 2026 campaign on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 59-13 Week 0 decision against NCAA Division I FCS opponent Valparaiso University at Brown Field.
The Beacons asserted control early, building a multi-score lead in the first half behind an explosive rushing attack and efficient play from quarterbacks Rowan Keefe and Noah Ehrlich. Valparaiso's offense generated continuous momentum throughout the afternoon, putting up 59 points to keep the contest out of reach.
Lawrence Tech showed flashes on offense, breaking into the scoring column with a pair of touchdowns. Quarterbacks Isaiah Fox, Ryan Schuster, and Cory Chavis shared snaps for the Blue Devils, connecting with receivers Tyler Garrett, Jon Jasionowski, and Buddy Banks-Williams to spark scoring drives. On the ground, Garrett and Jon Jasionowski provided tough yards against Valparaiso's Division I defensive front.
Special teams also contributed, as kicker Franco Bella split the uprights on his point-after attempts.
With the Week 0 matchup against Division I competition in the books, Lawrence Tech stands at 0-1 to start the season.
The Blue Devils will look to bounce back as they return to NAIA action next week for their home opener at Blue Devils Stadium.
