SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils secured a victory Saturday afternoon with a dominant 40–14 victory over the St. Francis (IL) Fighting Saints in Southfield, Michigan. St. Francis struck first on a 27-yard touchdown run by Aaron Larkins, but Lawrence Tech responded with 21 unanswered points in the opening quarter. Blue Devils quarterback
Ryan Schuster took charge early, connecting with
Tyler Garrett on touchdown passes of 44 and 27 yards before adding a 7-yard rushing score of his own. Schuster expanded the lead in the second quarter with a 20-yard touchdown run, though St. Francis cut the deficit to 27–14 before halftime when quarterback Jalen Webb-Starkey punched in a 2-yard touchdown run.
Lawrence Tech's defense completely locked down the Fighting Saints in the second half, keeping them off the scoreboard for the final two quarters. Blue Devils kicker Franco Bella extended the lead with field goals of 29 and 37 yards, and running back Jon Jasionowski sealed the game in the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run. Overall, Lawrence Tech controlled the flow of the game, racking up 468 total yards of offense—including 215 rushing yards led by Jasionowski's 149-yard day—and holding possession for over 37 minutes to secure the season-opening win.
The Blue Devils will look ahead to their next game against Judson University as they host the Eagles for their homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 1pm at Blue Devils Stadium.
