SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team got a decisive win in Pittsburgh, Pa. as they defeated Point Park (Pa.) University 7-1 at Highmark Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lawrence Tech (3-0) is off to their best start, winning their first three games of the season for the first time in program history. The Blue Devils had to comeback in this one as they went down 1-0 in the seventh minute as Wessel Rietveld scored for the Pioneers. The LTU defense shut the Point Park offense down following that goal as the Point Park offense had one more shot on goal over the next 83 minutes. Conversely, the Lawrence Tech offense heated up with seven unanswered goals over that time frame.

Santiago Amigo (JR/Madrid, Spain) opened the scoring for Lawrence Tech on an assist from Chris Serwatka (JR/Troy, Mich.) in the 19th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Serwatka was on the receiving end of a Mateusz Gibiec (SR/Goleszow, Poland) pass to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead in the 25th minute. Nico closed the first half with an unassisted goal in the 35th minute to push the LTU lead to 3-1 at halftime.

It was all Lawrence Tech in the second half as Pablo Ripodas (SR/Navarra, Spain) scored his first of the season on a pass from Ryan Resendes (SO/Windsor, ONT, Canada) to make it 4-1 Blue Devils. Gibiec adds to his point tally, this time a goal on an assist from Jacob Sooy in the 73rd minute to give LTU a 5-1 lead.

Sooy wanted in on the goal scoring, so he took a Serwatka pass and made it 6-1 Lawrence Tech. Skyler Russ (SR/Rochester Hills, MI) added the seventh goal of the game in the 81st minute on an assist from Juan Jaramillo (FR/Windsor, Ontario) - his first assist of his college career.

Grady Beerck (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio) got the start in the net for the Blue Devils, making one save on two shots on goal. Lawrence Tech finished the game 10 shots on goal and committed just seven fouls in the game.

The Blue Devils are back on the pitch Friday, September 8 when they host the two-day 2017 Blue Devil Classic. LTU faces Ohio Christian at 4 p.m. Holy Cross (Ind.) College and Huntington (Ind.) University open the Classic at 1 p.m.
