SOUTHFIELD, MI-The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's lacrosse team dismantled #4 ranked Seine Height in a 19-3 game for their home opener on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Everyone got a piece of the action with Isabelle Vickers (SR/Rockford, MI) in the lead with five goals, followed by Anna Gagnon (SO/Grand Haven, Mich.) with four, Kaylee Patterson (JR/Flint, Mich.) with three, both Ashley Collins (SR/Hartland, MI) and Abby Barnewold (FR/Lake Orion, Mich.) had two, and finally, Teagan Laier (FR/Howell, Mich.), Ashley Sherry (FR/Savage, Minn.), and Marci Schaeffer (SR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.) had one.
Marie Klonowski (SR/Gurnee, IL) had five saves with seven shots on goal, and Dorie Coggin (FR/Hamilton, Ohio) had three saves with four shots on goal. Vickers was the top defender with five caused turnovers and six draw controls.
With four yellow cards hindering the Saints, the win was inevitable for the Blue Devils. Although the LTU attack had ten turnovers, our defense saw fit to match causing ten turnovers as well.
Here a quote from Captain, Maddie Barnewold (JR/Oxford, Mich.), about the game, "We came out playing hard and did awesome on the draw. Defense did good looking down the field for open players. Overall we played an awesome game"
Our Blue Devils are back at home this Tuesday, March 20th at 5 pm to take on Cleary University.
