No. 3 Blue Devils win 22-7 against No. 9 Marian University

SOUTHFIELD, Mich-The 3rd-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's lacrosse team broke records as they dominated No. 9-ranked Marian (Ind.) University 22-7 on a cold and windy Friday afternoon at the LTU Athletic Field in Southfield, Mich.

Isabelle Vickers (SR/Rockford, MI) (SR/Rockford, MI) set the tone of the game by scoring the first goal within seconds of the opening draw. As the game processed, Vickers was able to round up 10 more points, breaking the record for most points in a game by three. She hit the back of the net five times; three in the first half and two in the second. She also assisted with six goals, as did Ashley Collins (SR/Hartland, MI) (SR/Hartland, MI), who are now the all-time single-game assists leader. Vickers' last assist of the game was to Katja Nueler, for her first collegiate career goal.

Although Vickers lead the team in scoring, Anna Gagnon (SO/Grand Haven, Mich.) and Collins both brought in eight points; Gagnon with five goals and three assists, Collins with two goals and six assists. Followed by Ashley Sherry (FR/Savage, Minn.) sinking three behind the Marian goalie. Teagan Laier (FR/Howell, Mich.) and Nuler were tied with two goals each. Finally, Bella Crispino (SR/Ann Arbor, MI), Marci Schaeffer (SR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.), and Kaylee Patterson (JR/Flint, Mich.) had one goal each.

With a total of twelve shots on goal, the goalies held their own as Marie Klonowski (SR/Gurnee, IL) made five saves while allowing six goals, grabbing two ground balls to earn her seventh win of the season. Dorie Coggin (FR/Hamilton, Ohio) allowed one goal with one save.

Lawrence Tech opened the half nailing six goals within eight minutes. Marian started to respond with their first goal ten minutes in. The back and four began, with the Blue Devils scoring three straight and Marian returning the favor with two. Lawrence Tech followed with two more goals while Marian added two as well. The Blue Devils ended the half up 10 goals, 15-5.

Marian responded quickly, opening the second half with a goal, cutting the lead to nine goals. Collins and Vickers responded fast with back to back goals, as Lawrence Tech took the clock and ran with it. Maria put up one more goal in hopes of a comeback, but Nuler was last to score for the Blue Devils as they secured their third win over a ranked oppoenent this season (3-2 overall).

The Blue Devils hit the road on Wednesday, March 28 as they head to Grand Rapids, Mich. as they take on Calvin (Mich.) College. Opening draw set for 7 pm.
