No. 4 Lawrence Tech faces No. 1 SCAD in 2018 NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Invitational Semifinal

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The No. 4-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's lacrosse team faces No. 1 Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design in the 2018 Women's Lacrosse National Invitational Semifinal on Friday, May 11. It is a rematch of the 2017 NAIA National Invitational championship game. The game is set for 1 p.m., but due to weather in the area on Friday, game time could change so stay tuned to @LTUAthletics on Twitter.

Lawrence Tech (14-4) earned a trip to their third straight invitational semifinal game with a 16-12 win over No. 5 Keiser (Fla.) University in the quarterfinal. SCAD, in their third straight appearance in the semifinal, defeated eighth-seed Benedictine (Kan.) University 25-10. In the first semifinal game at 10 a.m., No. 2 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) faces No. 3 Indiana Tech.

This is the fourth meeting between these teams with the Bees winning the prior three meetings. The last time they met, the Blue Devils fell 20-12 at SCAD on March 9. This is the second meeting in the the national invitational tournament, falling to the Bees In last year's invitational championship game, 16-10.

Lawrence Tech ranks third in the nation in total assists (177), total goals (298), assists per game (9.83), and total points (475). Isabelle Vickers (SR/Rockford, MI) leads the team in goals (62), shots (112), draw controls (115), caused turnovers (33) and shots on goal (89). Marie Klonowski (SR/Gurnee, IL) averages 6.53 saves per game as she leads the Blue Devils in goal.

SCAD (13-0) leads the nation in assists per game (13.77), shots per game (44.54), shots on goal per game (34.38), and goals per game (21.69). Jo Mitchell ranks second in the nation behind Ashley Collins (SR/Hartland, MI) in total assists with 52 and ranks second in assists per game (4.00). Sydney Knego leads the Bees in goals per game at 4.46 with 58 total goals on the season, shots (9.69), shots on goal (7.46).

The Bees have two fifty goal scorers with Knego and Shannon Flaherty (50). Taylor Vaccaro finished the season with 43 goals. Mitchell recorded 38 goals and finished with a team high 90 points. Casey Summerson leads the team in draw controls with 72. Maggie Lortz led the team in goal, playing a team high 467 minutes and 56 seconds making 46 saves while allowing 70 goals.
