Blue Devils Defeat Gettysburg, 6-3, in PTR Spring Tennisfest Action

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team defeated Gettysburg (Pa.) College, 6-3, in their third match at the PTR Spring Tennisfest tournament.

Lawrence Tech (8-6, 1-1) took an early lead after the duo of Alexander Tammaro (FR/Caracas, Venezuela) and Alex Fernandez-Rajal (FR/Barcelona, Spain) defeated, 8-3, Nick D'Amore and Mike Mills at doubles first flight. However, Gettysburg (5-3, 0-0) engineered a comeback in courts-two and three and finished doubles action with a 2-1 lead. Viktor Kolesnychenko (FR/Lviv, Ukraine) and Adam Alger (SO/Livonia, Mich.) fell, 9-7, to Jacob Meehan and Harrison Brown at third flight, while Robert Saitov (JR/Ufa, Bashkortostan Republic Ru) and Lukas Obel (FR/Weybridge, England) dropped court-two (9-7) to Kevin Maier and Tommy Gilio.

The Blue Devils reclaimed the lead, 3-2, in singles action after Tammaro defeated D'Amore with a double 6-1 at first flight, and Fernandez-Rajal took court-three (6-3, 6-1) against Maier. A pair of wins by Saitov (6-3, 7-5) and Kolesnychenko (2-6, 6-3, 10-6) at second and fourth flights, respectively, sealed the victory for Lawrence Tech. Alejo Godall-Tintore (FR/Barcelona, Spain) was in charge of giving LTU a 6-2 lead after he took sixth flight (6-1, 6-3) against Brown. Finally, at fifth flight, the Bullets cut the four-point deficit to three as Obel fell 6-4, 7-5 to Andrew Corwin.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Friday, March 15 when they face off with Thomas More (Ky.) College to close their participation in the PTR Spring Tennisfest. First serve is set for noon at the Hilton Head Resort.
