HOW IT HAPPENED

The game started off slow, with the first five minutes scoreless from either team. However, Ashley Sherry, with an assist from Gabi Mitchell opened up the game for LTU at the 25:31 minute mark. Despite this break in the standoff, Georgetown netted a response only a minute later. After 12 minutes of silence from either team, LTU turned up the heat with a goal from Gagnon at the 11 minute mark. Then, two minutes later, Smentowski added a goal to push the lead 3-1 and forced the Tigers into a timeout. Two more goals were scored following this timeout from sticks of LTU to push the game 6-1 into the half.

The second saw Georgetown open scoring at the 26th minute mark, with a much more immediate responses from both team. Smentowski was the first Blue Devil to score in the second at the 19 minute mark, followed by a Georgetown goal. Then, after a defense stand followed by a caused turnover by Bella Van Buren, LTU cleared the ball for another goal from Smentowski with an assist from Mitchell. Again, GC responded minutes later, yet, LTU came right back at them with another goal from Sherry and assist from Gabi Mitchell.

Georgetown was forced to take another timeout, but LTU came out firing on all cylinders, with Sherry getting it past the keeper on a free position shot. With three minutes to go, Georgetown desperately tried to come back, scoring one more goal to narrow their deficit by five, but after a save from Coggin and a good clear by the defense, LTU fought to keep the ball, even forcing several turnovers in the last moments of the game.
