In the match, the game was back and forth throughout. While the Cumberlands got out to an early lead, LTU battled back with two of their own from Abbey Smentowski and a goal from Kaylee Patterson who was assisted from Gagnon with only 10 minutes ticked off the clock. However, the Patriots went on another run, scoring four in a row, which forced LTU to dig themselves out, yet responded with four of their own, three of which were assisted by Larkin and the other assisted by Gagnon again. Now within one, Lawrence Tech held off the Patriots for nearly eight minutes until they faltered in the last 40 seconds of the game, letting two goals be scored and went into the half down 9-6.
The second half was again back and forth, with the Cumberlands still up by two. However, in the 15 minute of the second, the Cumberlands scored again, taking the lead to three. Then, less than a minute later, UC grabbed another goal to go up 14-10. The last 14 minutes of the game, Lawrence Tech battled, with Ashley Sherry from Larkin getting the score down to 11-14 at the 11th minute. Then, two minutes later, Smentowski streaked down the lane and got a goal, with assists from Anna Gagnon. LTU took four shots on goal between this goal and the 53 second mark, where Bella Van Buren narrow the deficit to one after a rebound. While the Blue Devils stampeded down the field after a clutch draw win by Larkin, a shot from Gagnon resulted in a save and a caused turnover by the Cumberland squad which sealed the win for the home team and sent LTU home with a loss of 14-13.
