ACHA DIII Hockey Program Ends Regular Season with a Split Weekend with Schoolcraft

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Starting off the weekend at home celebrating their seniors, the Lawrence Technological University ACHA DIII team fell to Schoolcraft in their first meeting of the weekend 7-3. Then, on the road, the men brought their season to a close with a 6-3 win at the Cougar's home rink. During their home match, LTU honored seniors Alex Johnson, Timothy Foley and Dylan Smith.

GAME 1

The men were neck and neck in the first period of play, with each team responding to the goals, with Schoolcraft scoring early and LTU responding back minutes later from seniors Dylan Smith and assisted from Timothy Foley, both of whom were playing in their final matches of their careers. After another five minute break before the Cougars scored again, the Blue Devils rounded up the period with a goal with three minutes left from Conor Burnette and assist from Blayne Young.

However, in the second period, the visitors from Schoolcraft stole the show going on a four goal run. In the third, Schoolcraft added another to push the lead 2-7 until the stick of Nolan Kellough with assists from Jason Drummy and Blayne Young found the back of the net. However, this made the last sprint to the finish line for the Blue Devil and left the game with a 7-3 loss.

GAME 2

Things went a little different in the next match-up between LTU and Schoolcraft. In the first period, Lawrence Tech scored first from the stick of Jason Drummy and assists from Martino Zaia and Collin Clark. However, the Cougars came right back and answered with back to back goals. Despite that push from Schoolcraft, Noah Peter of LTU came in with a tying goal with assist from Tyler Drummy to close the first period.

In the second period, SC opened the scoring again, but Lawrence Tech came back late in the period with back to back goals. The first being an unassisted goal from Adam Parker and the second being a goal from Noah Peters with assist from senior Tim Foley.

The third period was graced with only LTU scoring. Pushing the final score to 6-3. In the laast five minutes of play, Martino Zaia scored unassisted. Following his goal, with two minutes to go, Jason Drummy scored the final icing on the cake, with assists from Tim Foley and Nolan Kellough.
