Lima, Ohio - The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's tennis team has now lost four in a row, as they came up short to a solid team, University of Findlay by a final score of 1-4 on Wednesday, March 3rd. In the month of March, the team will look to continue to grow together as they look to get back in the winning column.
In the #1 afternoon doubles match against Findlay, Alexander Tammaro and Patrick Putschbach finished third out of all three singles matches on the day, so there was not a recorded score, but the end score came in the Blue Devils favor with a final score of 7-5. In the #2 doubles match, Jannis Schneider and Kevin Bollmann battled against Ivaylo Slavov and Octavio Carrasco, who beat the Blue Devil duo by a score of 2-6. Alex Rajal and Luca Roth were the third and final doubles match on the afternoon, but finished first as their match ended by a final of 1-6, as they lost to Florian Bauer and Mark Ivanov.
In afternoon singles matches, Tammaro started the day for LTU as he tried to set the tone for the team early by sweeping the first set 6-0. His opponent Jorge Barnvevo came back to even things out in the second set 1-6. The third and final set was pretty competitive, but Tammaro finished the match out on top with a victory ending the match 6-3. This gave the Blue Devils their first match point on the afternoon. Putschbach followed behind his teammate Tammaro, and came up short in the second singles match and he lost his match in straight sets 3-6, 1-6 to his opponent, Bauer. The third single match for the LTU men was Pedro Garcia-Orellana and he took the first set 6-3. His opponent, Alfredo Berlanga came back to win the next two sets in a row, by a score of 2-6, 4-6. The fourth singles match on the day for the men came from Luca Roth, and his match ended in straight sets, 2-6, 3-6. Alex Rajal and Kevin Bollmann both battled in their matches but came up just short as well as they both were in their second sets as match play ended.
LTU will be back to the courts Saturday afternoon March 6th where the match will begin at 1:00 PM as the men will travel across the state to Grand Rapids, Michigan and compete against conference team Aquinas College. That match will be played inside the MVP Sportscomplex.
