CEDARVILLE, Ohio – October 11, 2025. The Lawrence Tech men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up their weekend road trip at the Johnson–Murdoch Tennis Center, facing NCAA Division II opponent Cedarville University. The women's team came away with a narrow 4–3 victory, while the men's team showed competitive grit despite a 1–6 result against a strong Yellow Jackets lineup.
Women's Match: Lawrence Tech 4 - 3 Cedarville
The Blue Devils women's team continued their steady rise with an impressive win over a Division II opponent, fueled by clutch performances in both doubles and singles play.
In doubles, senior
Jacqueline Alcocer (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and junior
Paola Herrera Rivera (Tabasco, Mexico) set the tone, earning a convincing 6–2 win. The pairing of junior
Miriam McCormick (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and sophomore
Claudia Calabuig (Villena, Spain) added another, claiming a 6–3 victory to secure the doubles point for LTU.
In singles, Alcocer stayed dominant, cruising to a 6–4, 6–0 straight-sets win, while McCormick pulled off one of the biggest results of the day — rallying to edge her opponent 6–1, 1–6, [10–7] in a deciding super tiebreak.
Rocio Lopez Alcerro (Choloma, Honduras) added to the momentum, claiming a convincing 6–1, 6–3 win that helped seal the team's 4–3 triumph.
Men's Match: Cedarville 6 - 1 Lawrence Tech
On the men's side, freshman
Tyler Brunsell (Commerce Twp., Mich.) provided the highlight of the match with a dominant 6–0, 6–1 victory, giving LTU its lone point of the afternoon.
The duo of
Carlos Patricio (Madrid, Spain) and
Augustin Patte (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) came close to another highlight, pushing their opponents deep before narrowly falling in a competitive tiebreak.
