ADRIAN, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's tennis team picked up a dominant road victory on Friday, defeating Adrian College, 6-1.
The Blue Devils got off to a strong start in doubles play, sweeping all three matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
Alessandro Gatto and Cian Thomas teamed up at No. 1 doubles and earned a 6-3 victory. Enzo Yakibu and Carlos Patricio followed with a convincing 6-0 win, while Arthur Rochus and Patryk Luwanski completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory.
LTU carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches to secure the 6-1 team victory.
Patricio, Yakibu, Gatto and Rochus each earned straight-set victories to lead the Blue Devils in singles action. Tyler Brunsell battled through a three-set match to claim his victory, while Thomas pushed his opponent to three sets before ultimately falling.
The Blue Devils' strong performance on the road saw LTU claim six of the seven team points, highlighted by a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles and five singles victories.
Lawrence Tech will look to carry the momentum from Friday's victory into its next match.
