Southfield, MI - The #1 Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team hosted Rochester University on Wednesday night in the pouring rain. Despite the weather, the sticks were hot for LTU as they went on to beat the Warriors by a final score of 23-0 in three periods.
How It Happened: LTU 23, RU 0 (F / 3Q)
- Three different Blue Devils would score in the opening three minutes of play. Abbey Smentowski, Kady Waits and Gabi Mitchell put their team up 3-0.
- Bella Burke also added to the scoring right before a Warrior timeout.
- Within a span of 25 seconds, Alaina Smythe would score back-to-back goals.
- Right before the first period ended, Abby Barnewold scored two goals to close out the first period up 14-0.
- A lightning delay stopped play after period one.
- Just five minutes into the second period, Mackenzie Murtha found the back of the net twice to go up 19-0.
- Teagan Laier scored her first goal of the season right before the half.
- LTU entered halftime up 22-0.
- The only goal scored in the third period came from Lilliana Litner.
The #1 Blue Devils went on to beat the Warriors by a final score of 23-0.
