Southfield, MI - The #1 Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team hosted (RV) Aquinas College at home in the pouring rain. Despite the weather, the Blue Devils stayed hot on offense scoring 18 goals in the win against the Saints by a final score of 18-4.
How It Happened: LTU 18, AQ 4
- Blue Devils led off the scoring three minutes into the game after Bella Burke found the back of the net for her 24th time this season.
- Three minutes later in the first, Aquinas tied the game after Sophia Schmader scored.
- With 6:25 left, Abbey Smentowski found an opening to put LTU back up 2-1. Assisted by Sydney Robinson.
- The Blue Devils were up one after one.
- Burke would score another less than two minutes into the second to go up 3-1.
- Back-to-back goals by Gabi Mitchell, one of those being man-up, extended the lead to 5-1 for LTU.
- With 1:54 to play before the break, AQ cut the deficit to 5-2 after an Emma Bailey goal.
- Midway through the third period, a trio of goals by Alaina Smythe, Mitchell, and Burke stretched the lead to six.
- The Saints came back with a goal of their own with 7:02 on the clock.
- A man-down goal by Hannah Huebner put the team back up six.
- In the remaining minutes of the third, Mitchell and Smentowski found the back of the net to enter the fourth up 12-4.
- It was all LTU in the fourth period as they scored six straight goals.
- Huebner and Burke both scored two, Smentowski and Abby Barnewold both scored one.
- LTU would go on to beat AQ by a finals score of 18-4.

Burke led the team with seven draw controls, seven points, and five goals. Mitchell recorded four goals, and Huebner and Smentowski both had hatricks. Robinson led the team in assist with six.
The next #1 Blue Devils contest is on Saturday, April 9th when they host Indiana Tech University at the Blue Devils Stadium. The face off will begin at 2 PM.
