Southfield, MI - The #1 Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team played Indiana Tech University at home on senior day on Saturday afternoon. A slow start for both teams found themselves entering half time at a score of 4-2. The Blue Devils would outscore the Warriors 7-1 in the second half as they beat Indiana Tech 11-3.
How It Happened: LTU 11, ITU 3
- The Warriors started off the scoring in the first four minutes into the game.
- With 6:38 left in the first, Alaina Smythe tied the game up. Assisted by Gabi Mitchell.
- A late free position shot in the first period by Mitchell gave LTU a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
- Less than four minutes into the second, ITU would tie things up at two.
- A man-up goal by Abbey Smentowski at the 7:59 mark gave LTU the lead back.
- Mitchell scored her second goal of the game minutes later on a free position shot.
- LTU was up 4-2 at the break.
- Back-to-back goals by Bella Burke and Smythe extended the Blue Devils lead to four.
- Abby Barkdull made it 6-3 for the Warriors.
- With under a minute remaining in the third, Burke put one past the goalie for the 30th time this season to enter the fourth up 7-3.
- The Blue Devils outscored the Warriors 4-0 in the fourth period.
- Smentowski scored two, and Smythe and Abby Barnewold each scored one in the period.
- The Blue Devils extended their win streak to 11 after beating ITU by a score of 11-3.
