Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Fort Wayne, Ind - The Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball officially kicked off their 2022 season during the Onset Volleyball Invitational Tournament on Friday afternoon inside the Fort Wayne Coliseum. In the Blue Devils first game of the day the team took on Indiana University East in their season opener. LTU would go on to lose the match in four sets by scores of 17-25, 13-25, 25-18,24-26. The Blue Devils responded by beating (RV) Indiana University at South Bend in four sets by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 11-25, 25-22.

Game One: LTU vs Indiana East

Set One:

• A kill by Lindsey Hubler from Abby Zambeck gave LTU a 3-2
• IUEast jumped out to a 10-7 minutes later
• A kill by Charley Klint cut the lead to 11-13
• A couple attacks errors put the Blue Devils down 14-19
• Rachel Rachon and Hubler made it 16-20
• The Blue Devils would drop the first set 17-25

Set Two:

• A kill by Madeline Hudson put LTU down 4-5
• A trio of attack errors gave IUEast a five point lead (5-10)
• Riley O'Connell cut the deficit to 9-18 after her kill
• LTU went down 2-0 after losing set two by a score of 13-25

Set Three:

• A couple errors from IUEast to start set three put LTU up 4-0
• Three kills from Hudson gave the Blue Devils a 10-8 lead moments later
• Makayla Price from IUEast made it 18-16
• LTU would bounce back with a solid set three after beating IUEast 25-18 to make it 2-1

Set Four:

• IUEast started set four with three straight points
• Back-to-back kills by Hubler cut the IUEast lead to 12-11
• Both teams were squared up at 18 a piece after an IUEast attacking error
• Hubler gave LTU a 23-22 lead after her two kills
• In the final set, the Blue Devils fell just short after an extra volley to lose the last set 26-24

IUEast beat LTU by a final score of 3-1

Game Two: LTU vs Indiana South Bend

Set One:

• A kill by freshman Nya Matley put LTU up 12-7
• The Blue Devils extended their lead to 17-9 a couple plays later
• After a few errors by LTU, the margin was cut to 20-15
• The Blue Devils would go on to score the last five points
• LTU would jump out to an early 1-0 lead after the final score of set one was 25-15

Set Two:

• Hubler's kill tied things up at seven
• IUSB went up 15-11 to force LTU to call a timeout
• Following the timeout, the Blue Devils strung together the next seven points to go up 18-15
• Another dominate set extended the game to 2-0 for the Blue Devils after a 25-22 victory in set two

Set Three:

• IUSB jumped out to an early 9-1 lead
• Efforts from O'Connell and Matley made it 7-20
• IUSB wouldn't back down as they came back to win set three by a score of 11-25

Set Four:

• Hudson gave LTU an early 6-5 lead after her kill from Zambeck
• Three erros in a row by IUSB put the Blue Devils back up 14-8
• Hubler extended the lead after back-to-back kills
• Two kills by Abby Weber cut the lead to 18-16 for IUSB
• The game was tied at 20 after an IUSB kill
• LTU would outscore IUSB 5-2 in the final moments to seal the deal as they went on to win 25-22

LTU beat IUSB by a final score of 3-1

The Blue Devils next match is against Grace College (Ind.) on Saturday, August 20th in day two of the Onset Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind. inside the Fort Wayne Coliseum. The first serve is set for 9:00 AM for game one. In game two the Blue Devils will play Spring Arbor University at 1:00 PM.
