How it Happened
- Pilet potted the game-winning goal with 11 minutes and 48 seconds left in the game when he took a feed from Mattevi and wristed a shot from below the right face-off circle over the right shoulder of the goalie.
- After being held scoreless for two periods, LTU tied the score 1-1 on a goal by Hoftiezer moments earlier at the 12:42 mark.
- Cleary opened the scoring on a quick developing breakout midway through the second period when Heruaf took a center-ice pass from Wafer and skated in on Tome for a low shot between the blocker and above his right leg pad.
- Krasofsky did not allow a goal in the second period when Cleary was outshot 16-7 and took a 1-0 lead.
- The Blue Devils had two shots clank off the post in the second period.
- The Cougars couldn't capitalize on a LTU turnover in the neutral zone as a 3-on-none breakaway against Tome didn't result in a goal when the close-range shot went over the crossbar.
- Cleary pulled the goaltender for an extra attacker to try to get the equalizer and force overtime, but Tome had four saves--including a pair of terrific stops at the left post after pushing off from his left to the right--in the final minute to preserve the win.
- For the contest, LTU also led in shots on goal 30 to 25.
