Perfect 10: No. 4 ACHAMD3 Doubles Up No. 10 Oakland, 4-2, to Reach that Mark

TROY, Mich.--In another top-10 showdown of nationally-ranked American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 3 men's teams, No. 4 Lawrence Tech got seven points combined from freshman Will Jentz and senior Connor Juhasz to propel the Blue Devils to a 4-2 victory Saturday over No. 10 Oakland University to earn the weekend sweep of the Golden Grizzlies at Buffalo Wild Wings Arena.

With its 10th win in a row, LTU improves to 13-3-1 on the season and 7-0-1 in the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference East Division. Oakland, meanwhile, dips to 12-6-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Lawrence Tech Highlights
  • Jentz finished with a game-high four points on a goal and three assists, while Juhasz added three points on a goal and two helpers.
  • Sophomore Owen Przybylo made 18 saves on 20 shots against, including all five shots he faced in keeping OU scoreless in the third period.
Oakland Highlights
  • Evan Chippa and Alexander Sharpe scored for the Golden Grizzlies.
  • Jake McCatty and Jack Abbo chipped in an assist apiece.
  • Caleb Godlewski had 24 stops in the OU goal.
How it Happened
  • Junior Gavin Holmes scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to give LTU a 3-2 lead with 17 minutes and 36 seconds remaining. 
  • Jentz found the back of the net for an insurance tally 7:22 later at 10:14. Juhasz and junior Payten Arnold assisted on the play.
  • Sharpe opened the scoring at the 9:27 mark of the first period to give Oakland a 1-0 lead.
  • In the second period, LTU forged ahead 2-1 on goals from Juhasz at 17:13 and senior Zachary Rais at 15:58 before Chippa tied it 2-all at 10:19.
Beyond the Boxscore
  • The new ACHA Division 3 men's rankings were released on Friday night, as LTU climbed from No. 8 while OU dropped from No. 6.
  • Jentz leads LTU in scoring 19 points on eight goals and 11 assists, which is good for seventh in MCHC East point-scoring.
  • Lawrence Tech beat OU, 8-4, at home to open the weekend series on Friday at Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
  • Abbo is ranked third in MCHC East scoring with 26 points, including a conference-best 21 assists.
  • Oakland has four of the conference's top-six scoring leaders, but LTU outscored the Golden Grizzlies 12-6 during the weekend sweep.
  • Przybylo owns a 5-0-1 record with a 1.30 goals-against average and .940 save percentage this season.
  • The Blue Devils are 4-0 this season against Top-25 ranked foes.
