Sylvania, OH - The Lawrence Technological University softball team opens up the WHAC Tournament as the No. 8 seed matching up against the No.1 seeded Indiana Tech University Warriors. The tournament is hosted by Lourdes University from May 3-5. The first pitch against the Warriors begins at 4 PM at Pacesetter Park.
The Blue Devils are led by three players averaging over a .300 batting average, freshman Alyssa Bloomfield (.342), sophomore Morgan James (.333), and senior Callie Tatum (.303). Bloomfield leads the team with 41 hits, 27 runs and is second in OPS with .900. Tatum has 7 doubles on the year and 16 RBI. James enters the postseason leading the team in RBI with 21 and third in runs with 23.
Clover Brandt is the Blue Devils ace on the bump. Brandt comes into the postseason with a 3.62 ERA allowing 112 hits. The right hander has stuck out 73 batters this season and has 8 complete games.
