BYRON CENTER, Mich.--For the first time this fall, the Lawrence Tech women's cross country team fielded a full lineup at the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders Invitational where the Blue Devils finished in third place out of 13 schools on Friday.
Lawrence Tech scored 97 points to trail only NCAA Division II Northwood-Mich. (36) and fellow Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference member Aquinas (61).
Senior
Jacqueline Albo and junior Hannah Assenmacher led the Blue Devils with a pair of top-10 showings. Albo completed the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes and 55.7 seconds for fourth place out of 111 competitors, while Assenmacher traversed Douglas Walker Park in 19:45.8 for ninth.
Also competing for LTU were sophomore
Molly Kline (21:25.7, 30th), senior
Erin McCardell (21:36.3, 34th) and freshman
Madison Armstrong (22:45.2, 55th).
Freshman Olivia Ippel of Lake Michigan College won the individual title in 18:41.7.
After an idle week, LTU is back to racing on Sept. 30 when it travels to Louisville, Ky., for the Live in Lou Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.
