FLINT, Mich.--The Lawrence Tech women's bowling squad toppled 6,182 pins on Saturday to take second place at the 2023 Warrior Classic hosted by Rochester University here at Richfield Bowl.
The Blue Devils sat in ninth place with a 770--trailing leader Madonna (940)--after the first game. But LTU rolled 921, 802 and 849 in its next three games to mount a comeback and continued that momentum going into baker rounds.
Individual runner-up
Brooke Kochel paced the Blue Devils cause with a 781 score, which was just nine pins shy of first place. There was a total of 93 competitors.
Allison Clarke (740) and
Grace Tefend (701) also had strong showings in sixth and 11th place overall, representing the LTU junior varsity team which earned a 5703-5250 victory over the Rochester JV.
Faith Harding of 10th-place Bowling Green was the individual winner with a 790. The host Warriors won the 12-team title with a 6231.
Lawrence Tech hits the lanes again on Oct. 7-8 when they travel to Wauwatosa, Wis. (AMF West Lanes), for the Midwest Collegiate Championships.
