SOUTHFIELD, MICH. -- The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils women's lacrosse team finished last season with a national championship. Despite losing some key cogs from their championship team, they are still loaded with talent. That is one thing that is agreed upon in-house, in conference and nationally, as the Blue Devils were ranked number 1 in both the WHAC conference preseason poll and the NAIA national preseason poll.
The Blue Devils return 15 of 22 players from last year's championship team, including NAIA All-Americans
Jaisanna Jarvis (5th, Midfield),
Sydney Robinson (Jr, Attack), andÂ
Anabelle Acluche (Sr, Goalkeeper). Robinson looks to improve on a stellar 2023 season in which she won WHAC Offensive Player of the Year.
LTU received 8 of the 10 First Place Votes in the NAIA poll and 6 of 9 First Place Votes in the WHAC poll.
Lawrence Tech will have a new leader at the helm, as longtime head coach Mary Ann Meltzer has transitioned into an administrative role as the school's Athletic Director, then appointing her assistantÂ
Emma Kuehl to Head Coach.
Coach Kuehl on the honor of being ranked at the top of the polls: "It is always an honor to be ranked number 1 in the preseason polls. While preseason rankings provide motivation, we understand the importance of translating this recognition into on-field success. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of performance and are excited about the challenges and opportunities the upcoming season holds for us."
